PROJECT: THUNDERHAWK FPU5500
(SEMI-SUBMERSIBLE) IN DYNA-MAC YARD
The FPU is a four column semi-submersible with Pontoon measuring 42.67m(L) x
11.58m(W) x 7.92m(H), Nodes measuring 14m(L) x 14m(W) x 7.92m(H) and Column
measuring 14m(L) x 14m(W) x 51.8m(H).
The hull features 4 square columns with 4 rectangular pontoons linking them. The
deck structure is supported by the columns.
Quotations to Dyna-Mac started from 03/10/2006 and after many crucial meetings,
we started scaffolds erection for block panel fabrications from Feb 2007 around
the workshop areas. Assembly of the Pontoons, Nodes and Columns were all over
the yard, started from Jan 2007 till early 2008. On 8th Jan 2008, the first
column NWC was lifted successfully into position on the pontoon. The rest of the
columns were also lifted in place as per schedule.
The demand for scaffolding services were expectedly high right from the start of
the project and as it progressed, more trades started coming in and each trying
to achieve their critical schedules. Due to these requirements, we provide more
than 70 scaffolders and have to worked overtime daily to cope with the many
urgent requests from all disciplines. Our committed workforce worked tirelessly
and their effort was recognized by Dyna-Mac Management.
Finally after all the deserving hard work, Thunderhawk FPU was successfully
loaded out and sailed to Gulf of Mexico for delivery to SBM Atlantia & Murphy
Exploration & Production Company- USA in July 2008.
This project was well executed by Dyna-Mac PMT and we are glad to have worked
with a professional team. This is indeed an experience that our workers will
